Dr. Denese Science Based Skincare Products

Dr. Denese has an outstanding line of science based, anti-aging, cruelty free, skin care products that was offered to me to try. In addition, I have bought and read, a book that Dr. Denese wrote: Dr. Denese’s Secrets for Ageless Skin: Younger Skin in 8 Weeks.

Dr. Denese’s SkinScience line was new to me, but due to all the many resources that are provided online, it’s very easy for anyone to quickly get “in the know!”

Dr. Denese is a skin care line that was, in fact, developed by a real doctor, Dr. Adrienne Denese. Yes, unfortunately I do believe it necessary to point that out, given that companies can make claims, and call their brand anything that has not already been registered. Adrienne Denese, M.D. Ph.D., completed her training at Harvard and Cornell University Medical College. Dr. Denese opened her anti-aging clinic in Manhattan shortly after completing her studies. No surprise, it was extremely successful, and Dr. Denese soon had a large celebrity clientele. Dr. Denese’s number-one priority is providing the most advanced scientific formulas for all, and she believes that the key to high-performance skin care is using the right ingredients.

Dr. Denese has been featured on many well known talk shows and magazines. Along with being a best-selling author, Dr. Denese has had two highly regarded and viewed public television lecture series on anti-aging skin care.

You know what my big *issue* with this post was? I took so many notes during my long phone conversation with Dr. Denese, that I had to decide how to condense it! She was very generous with her time and expertise to explain technical terms and concepts; hopefully, that will come across to readers.

Dr. Denese has quite an interesting story of how she developed her first product, HydroShield. At the time that Dr. Denese started medical school she was 34, much older than was typical at the time. Dr. Denese wanted to make sure that she stayed looking young, and developed what would become the first product: HydroShield Ultra Moisturizing Face Serum

First, I’d like to write about some facts and myths associated with natural/organic that I discussed with Dr. Denese. The reason that Dr. Denese has had proven success with her products is due to many factors. Some of the ingredients that are listed on the labels of her products have very chemical-sounding names. In fact, Dr. Denese and I laughed when she said that, “Some of the names frighten even me. However, take this example: “prime ingrdeient aquacell-pure chemical.” But what does it do? It increases the level of hydration that your skin needs!

Since Dr. Denese’s products are concentrated, to give her customers enough of the raw materials needed to make the products work, they have to be regulated by the FDA. All the ingredients originate from organic plant materials, and the active ingredients must be concentrated to actually show results. Dr. Denese products deliver what they promise, for the complete efficacy that you’re looking for in a skincare line.

Dr. Denese’s products are all tested with unique technologies which prove, by instrument measurements, a difference in before and after results, so it is not just someone “saying” that their skin looks better. It’s an actual number.

While initially, Dr. Dense’s products contained parabens, as soon as there were better preservatives, her company stopped using parabens and adopted the new preservatives. However, as Dr. Denese points out, some preservatives are needed. Why? Even if you have a product that is contained in a pump, bacteria is small, and it will eventually find a way into your product and contaminate it.

With that introduction, let me first write about HydroShield Ultra Moisturizing Face Serum, which I received in a 0.5 fl. oz (15 ml) sample.  This is, true to its name, a very moisturizing Face Serum, and it contains: Ceramides (those are the moisturizing oils of the skin), Soy, Retinol, Linoleic Acids, vitamin E (an antioxidant), and glycolipids. What does that mean for your skin? The HydroShield Ultra Moisturizing Face Serum will support your skin’s lipid barrier. While such things as air conditioning, dry heat and climates, and cold weather are draining your skin of it’s moisture, HydroShield works to provide natural hydration.

Because Dr. Denese’s HydroShield is so moisturizing for the skin, it does improve the appearance of dry lines and wrinkles. What else does that mean? Yes! Soft, luminous skin will make you look more youthful. It’s excellent for all skin types: dry to normal, but Dr. Denese does note that if your skin is oily, only pat it around your eyes and neck, and on your dry patches.

I used it in the morning and evening after I washed my face. As directed, I let the serum soak in for five to seven minutes, until I saw that it turned matte. At night, I applied after I used Advanced Firming Facial Pads, another product I recommend and will review for you.

I received a sample of 60 of Dr. Denese’s Advanced Firming Facial Pads. (photo above.) which are infused with Actizone Firming Factor. I used one pad daily, every night after cleansing. I avoided my eye area, and I was easily able to exfoliate and remove dead skin cells by simply wiping  my face!  You should consider purchasing this product if you have dull, or uneven skin tone,  large pores, fine lines or wrinkles. It will improve the appearance of your skin, and make your makeup and other skin care products work more effectively. Pores appear smaller and your skin tone will appear more even.

The next product (photo above) Wrinkle Rx Extreme Pro-Peptide Gel, is a very concentrated face gel that uses state of the art technology to combat the signs of aging that you see on your face, such as defined lines and wrinkles on your skin. I applied this day and night, after the Advanced Firming Facial pads, and I let it completely absorb into my skin. I received a sample in a 1.7 oz (50 g) size. This product is for anyone who has deep, visible, defined lines and wrinkles, and is formulated to work specifically on those targeted areas. I cannot personally attest to the fact that this product, like the others I have recommended, works, only because I don’t yet have the appearance of deep, defined lines and wrinkles.  However, I asked Dr. Denese about this. Would using Wrinkle Rx Extreme Pro-Peptide Gel, before having the above mentioned issues, help to keep them at bay?

Here is Dr. Denese’s response: “There is no question about that! There are very active ingredients in the products, very concentrated, and that will work to keep your skin looking its best.”

I highly recommend Dr. Denese’s Pro C Illuminating Cell Defense Pads, photo above, which I received in a sample jar containing 60 pads. My routine was to apply one gel pad every morning, to my entire face. I let it dry and then I followed up with HydroShield Ultra Moisturizing Face Serum. The Pro C Illuminating Cell Defense Pads are a vitamin C facial pad system that works to brighten and illuminate your skin’s complexion. By using the pads on a daily basis, dull and uneven skin will become luminous!  It accomplishes that by delivering hydration to the skin, which then softens the appearance of lines and wrinkles. There you go! Another product from Dr. Denese to help you achieve a more youthful appearance.

Dr. Denese has a book!

While testing Dr. Denese’s products, I purchased and began to read her book, Dr. Denese’s Secrets for Ageless Skin: Younger Skin in 8 WeeksBerkley Publishing Group. I recommend this book regardless of the skin care products that you currently use; and of course, those who are already one of Dr. Denese’s many fans, will certainly want to purchase a copy. The books is, like the products, a science based program, and it promises to make your skin look, “younger and healthier in just eight weeks.”

Dr. Denese’s book offers readers a six-step program to achieve flawless skin. It’s very easy to follow the guide and it includes a shopping list of what you need, and what you should not buy. Dr. Denese’s book will have you analyze your face, and then you’re able to plan a program for your skin. There is also an anti-aging diet as well as a supplement plan. My favorite part of the book was “Your Consultation with Dr. Denese.” Yes, I really did feel like I had a free visit!

One of the points that hit close to home for me was, “…Take an objective look at your face. Please, do not use a magnifying mirror. The world does not see you with an magnifying glass, so why upset yourself for no reason?”

Uh-huh. I will keep referring back to that excellent advice, that I admit, is very hard for me to follow. Sorry, Dr. Denese :-)

One of the admirable things that Dr. Denese does in her book is point out not only her products that will benefit readers, but she names other products that you may wish to try. Dr. D. will write, “Some good products to try are….” How many companies do you see putting in writing such suggestions, or even suggesting them “on the sly?” My opinion? Dr. Denese truly cares about people; if her products work for you, excellent, of course! However, it does demonstrate to me that she’s confident enough to write that you’re welcome to try another company’s products, and she’ll be just as delighted that she was able to steer you in the direction that is best for you.

I like Dr. Denese’s Guide to Spa Services; make sure you are knowledgable when at a salon or spa.  Also, unless you’re in the field, who wouldn’t benefit from Dr. D.’s Quick Fixes for Skin Emergencies?!

I laughed while reading what Dr. Denese calls “the most outrageous claims on cream jars,” and appreciated her honesty in writing that products cannot do the impossible. Not that she’s recommending it, but if plastic surgery is needed, no company has a product that can perform miracles.

Moxie believes that Dr. Denese’s products come close.
