The first thing that I would like to write about the company, eye of horus, is that, of course, they are cruelty free, and they kindly supplied a statement that I am thrilled to share with you:
“All eye of horus products are cruelty free and all ingredients supplied are cruelty free. No Animal testing on products or ingredients.
Well Done, eye of horus!
Since eye of horus is new to my blog, a little introduction is in order. One of the owners, Amy, let me know how her company began.
“Holly and I have been friends for past 20 years. We’ve been through primary and high school, and backpacked through Europe together. Eye of horus was our next venture together.
We do have a natural skincare which was seven years in the making, and through this journey we learned about all the ingredients, what’s good, what’s bad, etc..
We started selling the mascara (as that was our only product we had at this time) at country markets throughout Victoria, promoting the brand.
We had repeat customer who loved the products and then who approached us to stock it, so the direction came from there.
We had our first public launch last August at International spa and beauty expo last year where the mascara was voted best in show by Spa Australasia. We now have around 160 stockists throughout Australia, and have just launched into New Zealand.
With the brand, we researched what the ancient Egyptians used back in the day, and it was all your natural waxes and oil; this is how the brand, eye of horus came about.”
“Representing regeneration, health and protection, the ancient Egyptian Symbol of the Eye of Horus ensures healing, wisdom and prosperity to its bearer.”
Eye of Horus uses only natural ingredients, and “in the style of the ancient Egyptians to deliver cosmetic products that are affordable, non-irritating and effective.”
As Amy noted, to follow the “style of ancient Egyptians” only plant based ingredients and waxes are used including the following: carnauba wax, beeswax, rice bran wax, and candelilla wax.
I received an “Ultimate Goddess Gift Bag,” in a black mesh makeup bag.
What is included?
- Mascara
- Natural Smokey Eye Pencil and Custom Cosmetic Sharpener
- Liquid Define Liner
- Compact Mirror
- Microfiber Cleansing Cloth
Product: Eye of Horus Mascara
close-up of the mascara wand
Ingredients: Carnauba wax, Beeswax, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Wax, Candelilla Wax, Stearic Acid, Phenoxyethanol, Triethanolamine, Polyvinylalcohol crosspolymer, Iron Oxide (black), Water.
What I love is that the brush is as advertised, very flexible. The design and the size of the mascara “teeth” really worked with my eye size and shape. It delivered an even coating of mascara to curl my lashes. Eye of Horus mascara did not smudge and I put it to the test with very hot and humid weather (will describe further on in the post). The mascara is suitable for even sensitive eyes.
Do you all know this tip from the Eye of Horus? “Get more mileage from your mascara. For a better finish to your lashes, don’t pump your wand–twist and pull!” Plus, it dries out your mascara!!
Smokey Eye Liner Pencil
Ingredients: Hydrogenated Jojoba Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Silica, Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil, Mangifera Indica (Mango) Seed Oil, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil, Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax
As you can see, one end of the Pencil has a smudger.
The Smokey Eye Liner Pencil is most definitely 100% waterproof, and it glides on with no need to tug on your eyes to line them. Incredible black pigment. I used it to line my lower lashes. You do have to purchase the cosmetic sharpener because of the soft waxes and oils in the Eye Pencil. (photo below)
Liquid Define Eye Liner
Ingredients: Aqua, Acrylate Copolymer, Black2 (CI77266), Laureth-21, DEG-40 Hydrdgenated Castor Oil, Methylisothiazolinone (9.5%)
Liquid Define Eye Liner was very easy to use because I felt like I was using a magic marker. It has a gorgeous black color (swatch below). With the Liquid Eye Liner, I was able to make a thick or thin line. Liquid Define Eye Liner was used to line across my upper lid on the lash line. I’m not a makeup artist, and I always find that the easiest way for me to apply the liquid eyeliner is with small dashes, as close to my eyelashes as I can get.
I tried to rub off both of these swatches after only 2 minutes on my arm. They wouldn’t budge.
The eye of horus cosmetics were tested in hot and humid weather. In fact, I decided to use a photo I took when the temperature was 38 °C / 100 °F !
I’m perspiring, (see under my eyes!!) but all of the eye of horus products held up beautifully!
<<<<<——-Yes, friends, that is perspiration!

eye of horus 100% Cotton Microfiber Cleansing Cloth
The cloth is specially woven to remove Eye of Horus mascara. The natural waxes and oils in the mascara and eye liners are “melted off.” The cloth removes debris and makeup from the skin.
Use warm water, and pat your eye lashes. The heat will melt the waxes onto the cloth. This can also be used as a facial cleanser! It will gently exfoliate your face and it removes other makeup that you may have used.
Custom Compact Mirror
With a magnifying and mirror side, it’s the “perfect accessory for any Goddess.”
Eye of horus guarantees…”unsurpassed quality and integrity in our products. We offer a 100% money back guarantee of complete customer satisfaction.”
Cons: Nothing! I can’t find a single thing about the products, quality or performance, that didn’t work for me. The only downside would be paying for shipping if you do not live in Australia. Please remember this: if products don’t work for me, I would write what didn’t work, or simply not review at all. I don’t give “good reviews” just because a product(s) is sent. I am not obligated to post a review.
**Added note** Amy would like me to note “We have had a few comments from customers pronouncing our name incorrectly. It is actually pronounced Eye of Hor-rus not Whore-rus.”
