Looking for a cruelty free, 100% natural face wash for your young person’s skin? While this is marketed exclusively for ages 12 to 24(ish), not only did my children test this face wash, but I also did too (and I’m not 24ish!)
JooMo was recently launched (in June 2012) in the UK. How did I learn about it? I would like to thank and credit my fellow blogger friend, Jude, who lives in the UK, for introducing me to this line. Last year she let me do a guest post for her blog, and we’ve continued to correspond ever since. After reading her review of JooMo, and how her daughter loved the product, I knew that this was something that I wanted my children to try.
JooMo’s mission: “… to clear up the confusion so that consumers can make an informed judgement, start a new movement for natural cosmetics that will revolutionize and transform the marketplace.”
“The JooMo Brand will be trusted as safe, effective, ethical, environmental and healthy.”
JooMo believes that “most of the big name skin care brands that claim to be natural are in fact far from it, and there is an multi-billion dollar industry cover-up going on.” They don’t want you to be fooled anymore!
JooMo was created after one of the co-founders, Linda Russell, developed a skin allergy in 2008. After trying everything on the market, and being prescribed various topical and oral medications, she finally found relief in a home remedy. She and her partner, Co-Founder, Nick Wallen, delved into investigating skin conditions and “natural” skincare. They were shocked that there really nothing that existed that didn’t have synthetic ingredients—and especially so for those products that were aimed at young skin!
How did the product get its name?
Nick came up with ‘JooMo’ because Nick and Linda’s children are twins, and the French word for ‘twins’ is ‘jumeaux’. He also thought the word had a nice fruity sound relating to the strong scent.
JooMo 2 in 1 face wash and moisturiser for boys and girls:
What’s the difference between the boy and girl face washes? Nothing but the packaging; but it did, though, make my son and daughter happier to see that they had different tubes.
JooMo is for all skin types!
When We Say No We Mean No!
Main ingredients, as listed on the website:
SaponinJTM: Saponins are natural cleaners with a neverending list of skin benefits, unlike soap which dries out skin and alters the natural pH. As well as being excellent cleaners, Saponins are also brilliant anti-irritant, anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-allergic (hypo-allergenic) agents, and possess extensive antimicrobial, anti-viral, anti-fungal and anti-carcinogenic properties. Saponins possess significant deodorant properties too.
Our proprietary Essential oil blend uses its anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties to stop Acne and calm down inflamed skin.
Raw Honey softens, moisturises, heals and calms sore skin. It retains moisture and keeps skin hydrated, and is also anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory.
Sweet Orange oil treats acne and makes dull skin gorgeous. It’s good for balancing and for circulation, and replenishes dry skin. It’s also good for eczema, eliminates toxins, is anti-viral, antibiotic and antimicrobial, and acts as a tonic to boost dull skin.
Orange Juice renovates your skin with its stimulating action, reduces oiliness with its astringency and shrinks pores. It stimulates metabolism, eradicates acne and acts as a pH modifier.
Sea water is used for acne, eczema and psoriasis, and Sea Salt baths reduce inflammation, improve circulation and heal sore skin. It is a key component in building the skin’s natural defences. It restores balance to greasy or dry skin, gets rid of impurities, stimulates the skin’s own activity, gives skin minerals and trace elements, renews the complexion and has extensive healing properties.
Guar Gum is an emollient and anti-inflammatory.
Raw Sugar nourishes, soothes and helps maintain the correct skin flora. It is anti-bacterial and speeds healing.
Gum Arabic is a natural gum made of hardened sap taken from two species of the acacia tree; Acacia senegal and Acacia seyal. It has soothing and anti-inflammatory properties.
Our review: Growing up in this household, my children know that if they’re using a product, it’s cruelty free. So, they both said that they were glad to test JooMo, and happy that they liked it! My daughter felt her skin was smoother and did feel “silkier.” My son said he’s not going to feel his face. I did though, and his face was smooth! We all liked that it was kept fresh in a tube, and felt the smell was good for both boys and girls! None of us have anything negative to write about the product! Very highly recommend!
