Vapour Organic Beauty: Foundations

Vapour Organic Beauty was founded by Krysia Boinis and Kristine Keheley, who had been working together for years designing and manufacturing products for other brands. Eric Sakas, a makeup artist and previous President of Kevyn Aucoin Beauty, was looking for… “the next Big Thing in Cosmetics…it had to be unique and effective, something modern and revolutionary.”  Learning about the Vapour protype, it was “love at first sight.”

Vapour Beauty products are all made in the USA from 70% certified organic ingredients and 30% minerals & vitamins (that are not available as ‘certified organic’). Vapour Organic Beauty is certified cruelty free by Leaping Bunny!

Vapour Organic Beauty has many products, and this review will focus on their two foundations that were sent for review: Atmosphere Luminous and Atmosphere Soft Focus. The Atmosphere Luminous Foundation is in stick form, and the Atmosphere Soft Focus is in an airless bottle.

First: Vapour Organic Beauty’s Atmosphere Luminous Foundation:

Atmosphere Luminous Foundation
$34.00
Size: 9.64g/0.34 oz

This is the product that launched Vapour Beauty! The foundation can be applied either over Vapour Beauty’s primer (Stratus Instant Skin Perfector–which will be reviewed in a future post) or directly to your skin. The best way to begin to use this is to rub the stick foundation onto the front of your hand; that’s because the Luminous Foundation is activated by the warmth of one’s skin. Then gently apply the Foundation right from the tube, and blend with your fingers into your skin.  This can be applied to have light to medium coverage.

This formula is for normal, dry, mature and sensitive skin. I liked that because it was moisturizing for my skin, and it was not necessary to apply the previously mentioned Skin Perfector. This is great for two reasons: you don’t need to buy another product, and I felt that the coverage was great by itself. With just a small amount, my skin was soft, had a very natural finish, and it was more even in tone!  Vapour Beauty points out that your skin will glow, but not shine, and if it is shiny, you have over-applied.

The next is: Atmosphere Soft Focus Foundation

 Atmosphere Soft Focus Foundation

$48.00
Size: 32.32g/1.14 oz

The Soft Focus collection balances all skin types, including sensitive, normal, combination and oily skin. The pump worked without any issues, and I love that the Foundation can be applied well with either my fingertips, or using a foundation brush. Experimenting with how much to use, very little was needed to achieve a natural, satin finish. As with the Luminous Foundation, the texture of my skin was soft, my pores were concealed.

Ingredients: Camellia Oleifera (Camellia) Seed Oil*, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Oil*, Lecithin*, Cera Alba (Beeswax)*, Silica, Essential Oils and Natural Fruit Essences, Tocopherol (Natural Vitamin E), Boswellia Carteri (Frankincense)†, Ocimum Sanctum (Tulsi/Holy Basil)*, Nelumbo Nucifera (Lotus Flowers)* [+/-: Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides(CI 77491, 77492, 77499), Mica (CI 77019)]

I can’t choose which one I liked “best.” I would highly recommend both, and can’t come up with tie-breakers, except the straight facts. There is a difference in price; also if you want medium to full coverage, use the Soft Focus Foundation, as the Luminous Foundation is light to medium. Neither one made me feel like I had a “mask” on, nor did they look heavy.

I hope the swatches were of some help, but Vapour Beauty has an excellent way to shop for a Foundation online. Complete the form provided, and the Experts will then help you to choose the foundation shade that is perfect for you! They can also guide you if you are unsure which foundation would be best for your needs. http://www.vapourbeauty.com/Customer-Service/freeshadeconsultation.asp

  1. Ok, these I need to try. Love that Vapour Beauty is organic, cruelty free, etc. Also love that they will assist in determining the correct shade.

  2. I’d try the Soft Focus, sounds like it would work for my oily skin!
