The Palette for today’s review, the Matte Eye Shadow Collection, is not only cruelty free, but also Vegan-friendly: there are no animal bi-products.
Too Faced Cosmetics does not test on animals.
“No way, Too Faced loves animals! Our products are totally cruelty-free.”
I’m not sure what is more amazing. The fact that the Founders of Too Faced, and Jeremy Johnson, started their company only 14 years ago and are now a global company; or, that despite unlike other companies that no longer have cruelty free status, Too Faced has stayed true to their vision and remained cruelty free! Thank you, Too Faced, for caring about your customers, and the welfare of animals!
The Matte Eye Shadow Collection was first available exclusively at Sephora in the Fall of 2011. Now you can find this, and other Too Faced “Glamorous Goodies all over the world.”
Too Faced Cosmetics believes that “the modern way to wear matte is to keep it soft, sexy and sophisticated.”
Some specifics:
The three large eye shadows are each 0.07 ounces.
The six small eye shadows are each 0.03 ounces.

There are three cards with directions for creating different looks with the shadows: Day, Classic and Fashion

I followed the instruction card to create a Fashion Eye:
Lots to love about the Matte Eye Shadow Collection. It has both cool and warm tones. The shadows applied very easily, and were blendable. There was no fall out from the shadows; they didn’t crease, nor did they fade at the end of the day. *Note, I used Too Faced Shadow Insurance Primer. There are instructions (How-to Cards) in both English, and on the opposite side, French. Vegan-friendly!

I’ve been debating on buying this one but I love my Too Faced Shimmers too much! I typically only use mattes for blending. I will probably get this one eventually

Tina, I have a few more palettes to review. Really loving Too Faced!! x
Of all the Too Faced palettes that have been released, this is the one that most interested me, simply because I have so many shimmer shadows already and recently I’ve been mostly wearing mattes anyway. I really like the selection of colors – they’re all neutral or muted enough for everyday. I feel like it’s a great way to incorporate colors like green and deep lavender while still being subtle and appropriate for work, etc. Love the look you created with it! <3

Catherine, I really appreciate your comments. xo
i have 4 other Too Faced palettes which i LOOOOOOOVE. i haven’t picked up the matte palette yet (yes, i said yet) because i’m not sure i have the skills to work with matte shadows. shimmers are so much easier to work with. maybe i’ll put it on my holiday gift list and see what happens…

Hmmm. I’m not a makeup artist and I honestly didn’t have any trouble. Maybe you have many more skills than I do so you do a “fancier” look. xo
Just wanted to say excellent blog!
