Vani-T Bronzing Custard: Self Tanner Review & Photos

Even celebrities like Katherine Zeta Jones can look ridiculous! Check out the photo below that was on the Vani-T Facebook Page:

A surprise box arrived on my doorstep to see if I wanted to give my opinion of the Vani-T Bronzing Custard, a cruelty free gradual self tanner. The packaging is really attractive!

Since Vani-T is an beauty company from Australia, I’m going to provide various links so you can access the website and order from your location:

Vani-T Bronzing Custard Facts:

  • no mineral oils or paraffin
  • no parabens
  • no sulphates or phylates
  • no talc or bismuth oxychloride
  • no DEA or TEA
  • no artificial colours*  (Tanning solutions contain safe colours not derived from nature as natural colours leave a sticky residue on the skin.)

How I Tested and my Thoughts About the Vani-T Bronzing Custard:

For those that already have a tan, Vani-T is advertised as being able to “extend or boost an existing tan.” However, as you will see from the photo below, my arm has no tan, and is pale!

Testing Vani-T

To one of my arms, I applied a small amount of the Vani-T  each morning, for three mornings. The time of day, of course, is entirely up to you. I was simply curious to see if the self-tanner would come off on my clothes, and figured the best test of that was during the day.

The other arm is my usual pale skin color.

My thoughts? I love that you can gradually build up the color as you wish.  As I hope you can see from the photo below, after three days, I had what I believe is a very natural looking bronze tan.

The Vani-T was very easy to apply. I applied in circular motions, as the directions indicated, and then I washed my hands.

I experimented with the amount that I applied. I really can’t advise you as to what exact amount would work for you. However, my advice is that you should not squeeze out a big amount of product! Start with a very small amount, as the expression, “a little goes a long way,” was very true in this case.

Using the Vani-T, I had zero streaking, and no orange color. Just a very subtle tan. I noticed that my arm started tanning within the hour and by the end of the first day, I had a nice color. I very happily report that I had no color coming off on my clothes. The smell is also really nice; it reminds me of vanilla. The Vani-T is very moisturizing. That’s because Vani-T is formulated with Marine Collagen extract, Aloe Vera, Vitamins A & E, and botanical oils.

Any cons? The only thing I can think of is that if you’re looking for a very deep, dark tan immediately, then this is probably not the product for you.

Although I have only tested the Bronzing Custard, Vani-T products also include natural & organic makeup, cosmetics, teeth whitening, hair extensions, body products, and professional spray tanning.

I’ve never had luck with self-tanners, and I’ve definitely had some disasters, so I’m pretty nervous about ever trying them again. But this sounds like it’s different than others – I’m glad it worked well for you!

  3. Tina @ My Highest Self says:

Great looking color after three days! Sounds like a very nice gradual tanner.

  4. Sounds superb. I’ll have to try this one next.

  5. My only concern is that it is difficult to rub in. It’s like zinc cream. Very thick and white and doesn’t rub in well. Took ages. I only used a small amount.
