What’s better than a gorgeous nail color? How about three? Deborah Lippmann makes some of the best lacquers around – and not only are they 5-free and cruelty-free, they are also pretty good for nail art!

When I saw this nail art on Pinterest (why do people remove the identifying link/watermark? really, now.  I wish I knew who to attribute the original art to), I knew I wanted to take this idea and make it my own.

For the Deborah Lippmann Nail Art, I started with Deborah Lippmann Pearly Queen, a very sheer nude polish with a green shimmer.  This would make a great layering polish – and we’re going to layer it – but it usually goes on top, not the bottom!

I free-handed this half-moon mani with No More Drama, because that’s how I roll.  If you’d like a little more drama, you go right ahead.  I’ll get the popcorn.

You could also use a notebook paper hole reinforcer as a guide to make your half-circles more precise.

Using Billionaire, a creamy dark green, I painted on a diagonal french tip.  This is probably one of my favorite Lippmanns – dark, seductive, reminiscent of lots of money..

If you make a mistake, don’t fret, that’s what glitter is for.  I was pleased to see that my little striper had a cruelty-free bunny on the label!

Adding a pop of the opposite color is the final touch.  A striping brush works best to get get that little ‘flick’ at the end of a line, but I used one and I still can’t get it perfect, so I’m sure you could use any brush and do at least as well.

With as many layers as this nail art has, a good topcoat is necessary to bring them all together and protect it.  A fast-dry topcoat will seal the top pretty fast, but make sure you give it time to cure all the way through for longer-lasting results!

This is my favorite kind of nail art – interesting, sophisticated, with simple lines. What’s your favorite kind of nail art?
