True Beauty Box Cruelty Free Skin Care & Cosmetics

True Beauty Box

I’m really excited to share with you the newest True Beauty Box. The review of the previous Box can be found at this link: True Beauty Box Cruelty Free Cosmetics & Skin Care

True Beauty Box

True Beauty Box is for you if…

True Beauty Box is for you if you love to try different natural and cruelty free cosmetics and skin care!  This monthly service launched in December of 2012. Unlike other beauty boxes, where you may or may not receive items that are cruelty free, Love True Natural is the company that is running the True Beauty Box. Love True Natural is a 100% natural and cruelty free beauty company.

While I strongly recommend that everyone always double-check, True Beauty Box does guarantee that all of the products that members receive in their True Beauty Box will be free of Parabens, PEG, Phthalates, Petrochemicals, and synthetic colors.

Every month the True Beauty Box will contain three to four FULL size products, (this month there are four), plus you will receive samples.  In addition, True Beauty Box members will have exclusive access to sales and special prices on the Love True Natural website.

It starts by completing a beauty profile quiz at www.truebeautybox.com, and then choosing the style of box you want (Flirt, Veganista, or Indulge). After the quiz you simply submit the information, and your box will arrive soon.

As a member, you will receive a “sneak peak” of each beauty profile on the 12th of each month. True Beauty Box strives to make you happy, and they want to make certain that you’re going to love what you receive.  Therefore, you not only don’t have to make a commitment, but each month you have the option to re-take the beauty quiz for a different beauty profile and box style. Of course, there is also the option to skip, or cancel by the 15th of each month. The only thing that you need to remember is that after the initial charge (for your first Box), you will automatically be charged on the 16th of each month if you do not notify them.

Of the three options, Flirt and Veganista are both currently $30; Indulge is $40. The Beauty Box that I received is as follows:

True Beauty Box with Benecos Natural Baked Colour Eyeshadow

Benecos eyeshadow

The gluten free eyeshadow in Chocolate is gorgeous! The formula is really smooth, and that’s because the organic plant oils provide a creamy application. You can apply the eyeshadow wet or dry, depending on the effect you want. Since they are baked, Benecos writes that their mineral shadow won’t crumble or shatter.

Benecos eyeshadow

I love the sparkles. I think it’s just the right amount for a nice elegant look. I used eye shadow primer and the eye shadow stayed put, even with a trip to the gym (see the end of the post for picture).

True Beauty Box with Benecos Natural Kajal Eye Liner

Benecos eyeliner

This is a gluten free, matte black kohl pencil that is nice and creamy, and I had no trouble with thick or thin lines. It’s no surprise, since they are formulated with organic plant oils and pure minerals. Use along upper and lower lash lines.

Benecos eye liner pencils are safe for those who wear contact lenses. I applied primer on my eyelids, and this eye liner lasted– even with a trip to the gym (see photo at the end of the post).

True Beauty Box with Benecos Maximum Length Mascara

This gluten free mascara is in the color carbon black.

Benecos mascara

This naturally hydrating Super Long Lash Mascara adds length and carbon black tone to lashes without any chemicals. With Vitamin E.

 Benecos mascara

I liked that the mascara did add some length to my lashes, and I liked the wand. Here’s a swatch of the black color:

The mascara is made with organic Jojoba, sunflower oils, and Vitamin E for hydration. I wore the mascara to the gym and the photo is at the end of the post.

True Beauty Box with Benecos Baked Blush

This gluten free, mineral blush is baked for color so that it lasts. The ingredients of Cupuau butter and Sacha Inchi oil will keep skin hydrated and provide anti-aging benefits.

Benecos blush

I received coral, one of the two colors that the blush is available in:

 Benecos blush

The shimmery coral color is recommended for fair to medium skin tones.

Here is a great visual from Love True Natural for how to apply:

rouge

Round Face Shape

Apply directly to the cheek bones as flat as possible.

rouge square

Square Face Shape

Apply the rouge between the hairline and cheeks. To begin at the far end of the cheek bone, apply the rouge in one stroke down gently and run out to leave the temples. So the distinctive shape of the face looks softer.

rouge oval

Oval Face Shape

Apply the rouge near the top approximatelly at the level of the temples and run diagonally to the corners of the mouth down. This gives the face more contour.

rouge

Heart Face Shape

Begin in the middle of the cheeks: Apply blush and run out from there to the temples.

I decided to put the mascara, eyeshadow and eyeliner to the test. I worked out at the gym and this is the after shot:

Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics: Luminous Crème Blush Review

Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics is a luxury mineral cosmetics line created by Pauline Youngblood, Founder/President. Youngblood products are made of natural, finely ground minerals from the earth. Unlike traditional makeup, Youngblood is made without chemicals, dyes and preservatives. Many of the products contain their signature mineral blend of Malachite, Rhodolite, Hematite and Zincite. Those help to protect cells and tissue.

Of course, Youngblood Cosmetics is on Peta’s list of companies that do *not* test on animals!

Youngblood’s Mission:

Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics strives to provide the, “healthiest, highest quality products, while empowering women to look and feel their best.” Pauline Youngblood, a former medical aesthetician, draws inspiration from nature, as well as from her experience as a paramedical aesthetician to dermatologists and plastic surgeons.

For those who don’t know the history of why Pauline thought to develop her makeup line, here’s a brief summary. Pauline’s career as a medical aesthetician had her in daily contact with patients who had skin conditions ranging from severely traumatized skin from harsh laser treatments or cosmetic surgeries, to acne and rosacea. Pauline knew that these patients skin can take up to six months before healing, and Pauline didn’t like the makeup options available at the time.

With chemists, she worked to develop a product to cover “raw, inflamed or discolored skin,” but allowed for natural healing; that led to her working with natural mineral cosmetics.

At the time, Pauline found that the colors were very artificial looking. They were “too orange” or “too pink” and the quality was not good. That’s when she started to develop her first loose mineral foundation that had a natural appearance, and didn’t clog the skin. The true test was the fact that those that tried Pauline’s mineral cosmetics continued to want to use it, even after their skin had healed, and they didn’t “need” it. Youngblood powdersNo surprise, then, that her patients and friends told Pauline that she should make her natural mineral foundation commercially available; and in 1996 Pauline founded Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics. The Natural Mineral Foundation is the flagship product, and Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics now offers a complete line: with realistic skin tones, and natural finishes.

youngblood 15 yearsI love Youngblood’s pressed eye shadows, so I was very intrigued to test and review some of their new products that will be available March 1st.

The Youngblood products that I will review are as follows: Luminous Crème Blush, Lipstick in Tangelo, and Eye-Illuminating Duo. I will review each in a separate post; the first is:

Luminous Crème Blush, which will available beginning March 1st.

What is it? An extremely creamy blush with a shimmering glow. Colors are sheer and long-wearing.

Youngblood’s NEW oil-free Blush contains:

Vitamins C and E—a nourishing blend to help protect against oxidative stress

Allantoin—a moisturizing botanical that is an effective anti-irritant.

Jojoba Esters—an excellent emollient

Given these ingredients, it’s no wonder the blush was so creamy!

Did the blush color last that long? Yes! I applied the blush first thing in the morning (before 6 a.m., and I didn’t wash my face until after 11 p.m.)

Size: .21 oz

Price: US $27.00

What Did I Love About the Blush?

1. easy to apply—use your fingertips and make sure to blend before product sets (I’m not a makeup artist, and I had no problem with being able to very easily blend the blush in plenty of time!)

2. the blush could be used to enhance my complexion for a subtle wash of color (a really beautiful illuminated look)

3. I loved the blush on it’s own, but there is also the option to highlight and intensify a blush I already own

What colors are available?

There are four shades and they are suitable for all skin tones; although especially for fair to medium tones (I am fair.)

Tropical Glow, peach-pink tone with a golden shimmer

Taffeta, a lustrous bubble gum pink

Champagne Life, taupe with a shimmery sheen

Rose Quartz, a silvery petal-pink

Beginning March 1st, where do I find Luminous Crème Blush?

Website: http://www.ybskin.com

by calling in the US (800) 216-6133

New Beauty at Fred Segal in Santa Monica, California

Henri Bendel in New York

and at select spas and salons

Anything to add?

The blush is suitable for all skin tones, and it’s especially ideal for fair to medium. Since I have very fair skin, I cannot attest to how well someone with darker skin tones would like the colors. I’m quite certain that there will be other beauty bloggers who will review the blush to address that question for readers.

Attention Beauty Addicts!

I’m a proud Beauty Addict, and I’m assuming that you are as well! Bare Escentuals uses the message: “Attention Beauty Addicts” on the back of their new Face Fashion, five piece “on trend” collection: Pretty Wild! I guess I’ve made it quite clear that I’m a Beauty Addict, hence, the reason that Bare Escentuals sent this to me.

If you’re new to bareMinerals®, or you’re already a fan, I’m sure you’ll love the kit, as much as I do. Face Fashion: Pretty Wild collection aims, and succeeds,  as a go-to guide for the most standout trends in beauty. It’s from the Bare Escentuals Product Development team. How much easier can it get when Bare Escentuals does the work for you? There is no guessing what’s “rocking the runway this season.” What is that look? “Untamed, lush, surreal—super natural…” The beautiful colors, in shades described accurately as: muted lavender, earthy green and rose pink, are most definitely “wearable.”

The kit, which has a value of $52.00, may be purchased from Bare Escentuals for $34.00. You don’t need me to tell you that it’s certainly a great value
Here’s what you’ll see when you open the magnetic cover to the box:
Instructions to “get the look” of Pretty Wild are included, as well as the directions to apply the bareMinerals makeup:   SWIRL, TAP, BUFF® APPLICATION

Here’s a list of everything that you will receive as part of the Collection, in addition to the color, and the size:
  •  Violetta Eyecolor, is a faded lilac color, in a petite size
  •  Greenhouse Eyecolor, is an earthy green color, in a petite size.
  •  Floret Blush is a pink bloom shimmer, and it’s a small size.
  •  Mini Flawless Definition Volumizing Mascara, in a beautiful Blue Black color.
  • and Pretty Amazing Lipcolor, Vivacious, which is a pretty wild rose color, in a mini size.

Here are some swatches:

I hope my swatches of the eye colors do them justice. They are both very flattering matte colors. The Violetta is a faded lilac color, and Greenhouse is an earthy green. While I was testing out the Greenhouse color, one of my children wore a pair of their camouflage shorts. That’s it, I thought; another way to describe the color.

Pretty Amazing Lipcolor, in Vivacious, is the second color that I have now tried. Both the colors and the applicator tip are excellent. The first color, Moxie, was previously reviewed, and subsequently made Moxie’s Top Ten Award List

I have to admit that since this kit arrived, I have been wearing the Bare Escentuals’ Flawless Definition Mascara and comparing it to my previous favorite natural mascara.  Well, sorry to the other company, Bare Escentuals is my new favorite. I not only love the blue black color, which looks amazing, but it also does exactly what it claims: “accentuates and separates every lash.”

The bareMinerals Blush in Floret, is a  beautiful pink color; and although it is described as a “shimmer,” I do want to note this: When I have applied it, it does not look garish!  The blush is for all skin tones and types, and that does include sensitive skin.

All are winners in this Kit, but I especially love my new favorite, the blue black color of Bare Escentuals Flawless Definition Mascara!
