Benecos Natural Powder Blush and Natural Eyeshadow

Benecos

Benecos is 100% vegan, cruelty free, and gluten free! Benecos was founded in Germany in 2008, and their goal was to make high quality, natural cosmetics available to all. Benecos didn’t want affordable prices and high quality, natural cosmetics to be a contradiction! I have written about other Benecos products in previous posts: Benecos Nail Polish and True Beauty Box Cruelty Free Cosmetics & Skin Care

Today’s post is about two more of their excellent products: a blush and an eyeshadow. Both are extremely pigmented and considering they are certified as cruelty free and organic, I believe they are very fairly priced.

True Beauty Box Cruelty Free Skin Care & Cosmetics

True Beauty Box

I’m really excited to share with you the newest True Beauty Box. The review of the previous Box can be found at this link: True Beauty Box Cruelty Free Cosmetics & Skin Care

True Beauty Box

True Beauty Box is for you if…

True Beauty Box is for you if you love to try different natural and cruelty free cosmetics and skin care!  This monthly service launched in December of 2012. Unlike other beauty boxes, where you may or may not receive items that are cruelty free, Love True Natural is the company that is running the True Beauty Box. Love True Natural is a 100% natural and cruelty free beauty company.

While I strongly recommend that everyone always double-check, True Beauty Box does guarantee that all of the products that members receive in their True Beauty Box will be free of Parabens, PEG, Phthalates, Petrochemicals, and synthetic colors.

Every month the True Beauty Box will contain three to four FULL size products, (this month there are four), plus you will receive samples.  In addition, True Beauty Box members will have exclusive access to sales and special prices on the Love True Natural website.

It starts by completing a beauty profile quiz at www.truebeautybox.com, and then choosing the style of box you want (Flirt, Veganista, or Indulge). After the quiz you simply submit the information, and your box will arrive soon.

As a member, you will receive a “sneak peak” of each beauty profile on the 12th of each month. True Beauty Box strives to make you happy, and they want to make certain that you’re going to love what you receive.  Therefore, you not only don’t have to make a commitment, but each month you have the option to re-take the beauty quiz for a different beauty profile and box style. Of course, there is also the option to skip, or cancel by the 15th of each month. The only thing that you need to remember is that after the initial charge (for your first Box), you will automatically be charged on the 16th of each month if you do not notify them.

Of the three options, Flirt and Veganista are both currently $30; Indulge is $40. The Beauty Box that I received is as follows:

True Beauty Box with Benecos Natural Baked Colour Eyeshadow

Benecos eyeshadow

The gluten free eyeshadow in Chocolate is gorgeous! The formula is really smooth, and that’s because the organic plant oils provide a creamy application. You can apply the eyeshadow wet or dry, depending on the effect you want. Since they are baked, Benecos writes that their mineral shadow won’t crumble or shatter.

I love the sparkles. I think it’s just the right amount for a nice elegant look. I used eye shadow primer and the eye shadow stayed put, even with a trip to the gym (see the end of the post for picture).

True Beauty Box with Benecos Natural Kajal Eye Liner

Benecos eyeliner

This is a gluten free, matte black kohl pencil that is nice and creamy, and I had no trouble with thick or thin lines. It’s no surprise, since they are formulated with organic plant oils and pure minerals. Use along upper and lower lash lines.

Benecos eye liner pencils are safe for those who wear contact lenses. I applied primer on my eyelids, and this eye liner lasted– even with a trip to the gym (see photo at the end of the post).

True Beauty Box with Benecos Maximum Length Mascara

This gluten free mascara is in the color carbon black.

Benecos mascara

This naturally hydrating Super Long Lash Mascara adds length and carbon black tone to lashes without any chemicals. With Vitamin E.

 Benecos mascara

I liked that the mascara did add some length to my lashes, and I liked the wand. Here’s a swatch of the black color:

The mascara is made with organic Jojoba, sunflower oils, and Vitamin E for hydration. I wore the mascara to the gym and the photo is at the end of the post.

True Beauty Box with Benecos Baked Blush

This gluten free, mineral blush is baked for color so that it lasts. The ingredients of Cupuau butter and Sacha Inchi oil will keep skin hydrated and provide anti-aging benefits.

Benecos blush

I received coral, one of the two colors that the blush is available in:

 Benecos blush

The shimmery coral color is recommended for fair to medium skin tones.

Here is a great visual from Love True Natural for how to apply:

rouge

Round Face Shape

Apply directly to the cheek bones as flat as possible.

rouge square

Square Face Shape

Apply the rouge between the hairline and cheeks. To begin at the far end of the cheek bone, apply the rouge in one stroke down gently and run out to leave the temples. So the distinctive shape of the face looks softer.

rouge oval

Oval Face Shape

Apply the rouge near the top approximatelly at the level of the temples and run diagonally to the corners of the mouth down. This gives the face more contour.

rouge

Heart Face Shape

Begin in the middle of the cheeks: Apply blush and run out from there to the temples.

True Beauty Box with Lavera Foundation

I decided to put the mascara, eyeshadow and eyeliner to the test. I worked out at the gym and this is the after shot:

Benecos Nail Polish in Wild Orchid and Grenade

Benecos Nail Polish

Benecos Nail Polish is free of: Formaldehyde, Toluene, Camphor, Phthalates, and Colophony. Benecos is 100% vegan, cruelty free, and gluten free! The name Benecos stands for good cosmetics (Latin: bene means good). It was founded in Germany in 2008, and their goal was to make high quality, natural cosmetics available to all. Benecos didn’t want affordable prices and high quality, natural cosmetics to be a contradiction!

Benecos: “Hip, Trendy and Affordable!” Certified natural cosmetics. Benecos can be purchased at this link

Benecos

I have two nail polish colors to share with you: Wild Orchid and Grenade. (If you’d like to see a previous post of another Benecos color, I was able to sample, Deep Plum, in the True Beauty Box.)

Benecos

Wild Orchid:

This is a beautiful medium berry color. I applied a base coat, then applied two coats of Wild Orchid on my nails for an opaque look. This Benecos nail polish is easy to apply and you’ll get a fantastic, shiny color, even without a top coat. Yes, I did apply a top coat on my nails for the photo, but it is absolutely not necessary to achieve the shine. If, however, you want your nail polish to last longer, you should apply a top coat. I had to change my polish after two days, but notably, I had no chips at all in that time.

Ingredients: Ethyl Acetate, Butyl Acetate, Nitrocellulose, Adipic Acid/Neopentyl Glycol Trimellitic Anhydride Copolymer, Acetyl Tributyl Citrate, Isopropyl Grain Alcohol, Stearalkonium Hectorite, Sucrose Acetate Isobutyrate, Pentaerythrityl Tetraisostearate, May Contain: Silica, Mica, Iron Oxides, Titanium Dioxide, Pigment Red 57, Red 220 , Pigment Black 7, Barium Sulphates, Ferric Ferrocyanide, Tartrazine

* indicates Certified Organic Ingredients
** for natural essential oils

It’s a beautiful color, no matter what light. I wanted to make sure to have the color accurate, however. You can see in the photo below that it is not a red color.

Grenade:

I applied a base coat and then added Grenade on top of it. This creamy red color is beautiful, and I probably could have gotten away with one coat of polish. For the photo though, I put on two coats, and then a top coat. A top coat is not necessary for it to be shiny, but will make your polish last longer. I kept this polish on for 4 days before I changed it, and I didn’t have even the slightest chip!

Ingredients: Ethyl Acetate, Butyl Acetate, Nitrocellulose, Adipic Acid/Neopentyl Glycol Trimellitic Anhydride Copolymer, Acetyl Tributyl Citrate, Isopropyl Grain Alcohol, Stearalkonium Hectorite, Sucrose Acetate Isobutyrate, Pentaerythrityl Tetraisostearate, May Contain: Silica, Mica, Iron Oxides, Titanium Dioxide, Pigment Red 57, Red 220 , Pigment Black 7, Barium Sulphates, Ferric Ferrocyanide, Tartrazine

At night, with a flash:

Benecos

Each Benecos polish is $11.99 for 9 ml, and the formula, the colors I’ve tested, and the ease of use, make it a high quality nail polish. Nothing negative to write at all.

Hugo Naturals Oatmeal Mint Review

Gorgeous display of Hugo Naturals’ Artisan  Soaps at my local Whole Foods Market:

All of the soaps not only looked gorgeous, but they smelled delicious! I really wanted one of each! What I purchased was the Oatmeal Mint, which you can see below. Each of the soaps, no matter which you chose, were weighed for you at the check-out register, and were US $1.39 per oz. I purchased the humungous hunk that is pictured with the sign in it (my total was $17.44).

The Artisan Soaps are currently only available from select retailers or a special order directly from Hugo Naturals. Their website is currently being redesigned to include more information on their Artisan Program.  The new website should be launching any day now, so watch for that!

Hugo Naturals

Debra and Hugo Saavedra founded Hugo Naturals in 2006. Their mission statement: “Our passion is to enhance people’s lives by making the safest, most natural and luxurious body care available.”

They succeeded by creating natural personal care products that are luxurious without the use of petro chemicals, parabens, artificial fragrance or colors, sulfates, or phenoxyethanol  The entire line is Vegan, Gluten-free, Soy-free, and Cruelty-free. The certification for gluten-free is by the Celiac Sprue Association, the largest Celiac organization in the U.S.  They’re certified cruelty-free by the Coalition for Consumer Information on Ingredients (LeapingBunny.org), the organization that I have written in detail about in yesterday’s post.

All of the products are made in the United States, and each batch is made by hand. As you can see from the pictures, that only adds to the beauty of the soap!

The Hugo Naturals oatmeal mint soap that I purchased gives a great moisturizing lather, and has an amazing scent due to the use of 100% natural essential oils and botanical extracts. Instead of using water or alcohols in their extracts, they use kosher vegetable glycerin as a base.

There are also no chemical preservatives used. They are all-natural!
