Dle Cosmetics New Light Up Lip Gloss Colors: Review, Swatches, Photos

Dle Cosmetics

Dle Cosmetics is a cruelty free company, and they have very kindly provided me with five new shades of their all natural Light Up Gloss to test and review. I’ve previously written about them, and was also was very fortunate to have been able to interview the Founder of Dle Cosmetics, Diana Lee. Light Up Gloss contains “no fillers, and no Crap!” Yes, that’s a quote.

Dle Cosmetics: Light Up Gloss & Diana Lee

I’m excited to introduce you to a new, natural cosmetic company: Dle Cosmetics. Their current product, Light Up Glosses, and future ones in development, have only, “natural, wholesome, beneficial ingredients, contain no fillers, and no Crap!”

Dle Cosmetics has provided a written statement that their company is cruelty free!

Dle is an abbreviation of the Founder’s name: Diana Lee. I learned that Diana started her company after reading an article about women ingesting pounds of lip product a year from daily use. Diana wanted to create a natural alternative for herself!

First, check out the humorous video Dle Cosmetics created:   http://youtu.be/J4e6pT6mCbg

“Say NO to CLOWNFACE!  Light Up Gloss by Dle Cosmetics; terminator and eliminator of the horrid clown face!”

Here are the glosses that were provided for review:

Heavily swatched so you would be able to see the colors, all three are sheer. That makes them perfect for everyday use, and for layering. (In the fall, Dle Cosmetics will have matte finish colors).

Dle Cosmetics told me about how each of the glosses was named:

-Jess Barely: *Named after our beautiful friend and gracious actress in our “NO CLOWN FACE” video.Smile  Just as the name intends, It’s Jess Barely there…just a bit of pink, a hint of nude, slight coverage, and glowing sheen.

- Pink Fetissh : A natural, delicate pink, sheer gloss, with a pearl color finish. Diana wanted to steer away from any harsh, “cartoonish” pink colors.

- Poison Apple: The name simply speaks for itself. This color can be worn alone, or it is the perfect addition to any shade of red lipstick…giving lips a shiny, moisturizing, dewy finish.

One side of the gloss has a mirror!

It’s very easy to get the gloss to light up. Simply twist the cap open and it begins to light up. Here it is completely open and lit (click on the picture to enlarge).

Ingredients: Ricinus Communis (Castor) Oil*, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil*, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil*, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Oil, Cera Alba (Beeswax), Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil*,Kaolin, Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax*, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa Butter)*, Daucus Carota Sativa (Carrot) Powder*, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter)*,Tocopherol Acetate (Vitamin E), Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Peel Extract*, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract*, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Seed Extract*. May Contain: Mica (CI 77019) Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77499), (CI 77491), (CI 77492)

I asked Megan, at Dle Cosmetics, if she would estimate how long the light would last. Here is her response:

“The actual LED light has a life span of up to 30 hours of continuous use. However, we’ve found that after approximately 6-8 hours, it does become dimmer if just left on…though with normal use, it will outlast the tube of gloss.”

Shipping information for those in the US and abroad:

There is a flat rate Domestic US shipping for $3.95. Here’s their funny footnote: *Even if you order a bazillion of our products, standard shipping will still be $3.95! International flat rate shipping fee is $20.00 USD.

Interview with Diana Lee!

I really loved the glosses, and I’m so thrilled that Diana, the Founder of Dle Cosmetics, very graciously took time out during a business trip to respond to some questions I had.

After watching the Dle Cosmetics video (the link is earlier in the post), I’m wondering if that incident happened to you, Diana?

In writing the script, I did draw inspiration from previous experiences; though I must admit, the video is a bit of an over-the-top exaggeration of events!

I have had the pleasure of strutting around with lipstick on my teeth and smeared eyeliner running down my face…all the while thinking I was one hot, sexy lady on several occasions. This might just be the new “it” look for 2013! <— Insert sarcastic CLOWN FACE here.Smile  As women in this particular era, we’ve never been busier in our everyday lives… juggling family, friends, careers, second jobs, and even third jobs. I believe we’re always looking for new products to help us with multi-tasking, or simply an easier way of locating a mirror in our over-stuffed, over-sized purses.

How did you come up with the innovative idea to have a light up gloss?

To be completely clear and honest Moxie, I’m just not that smart to have come up with this device. However, I am clever enough to see a good thing, and find a way to make it better, and more easily assessable.  I start making natural cosmetics in my kitchen, just for personal use. After receiving requests for orders from friends and family, I thought I would attempt to turn a hobby into a new business venture. On a recent trip oversees, I then discovered the Light Up Gloss container, and basically like a kid in a candy store, thought it was the coolest invention ever! Being completely obsessed, I immediately started seeking for manufacturers and ways to make this product better than anyone else has in the past. It was not an easy journey to find manufactures to work with a new, small business. We were also adamant in regards to keeping our core values: natural, real, top grade cosmetic ingredients, no animal testing, and requiring fair pricing to pass on to our customers. The end result was a great product, comprising of everything I wanted! *This might be an only-child characteristic! Haha!

Diana, would you please let us all know what other products Dle Cosmetics will be coming out with–in addition to the matte glosses?

Since we’re still a new, small business, our new product line will be based off of the wants and needs of our loyal customers. We use our Facebook business page for consumer product analysis. Our new fall colors for All Natural Light Up Gloss are currently being selected by fans on Facebook. We’ll also run a “Name That Gloss” contest, where ultimately the new names will be given and selected by fans as soon as the colors are finalized. The motto we go by at Dle Cosmetics has, and will always be, that not only do we want to make our customer proud, we want to keep them proud of us, and our products! This is the reason we keep our customers very involved…to share the good, bad, and horribly ugly. We need opinions and suggestion to motivate us to be better.

I do have a few other products in mind, but I’m still working on the kinks. I’ll just need the only child syndrome to kick in, and then we’ll be good to go! Stay tuned!

Good for you Girls Products Review

Good for you Girls Skin Care

Good for you Girls is a skin care company that is cruelty free, of course, but also Vegan approved, and Gluten free. Plus, there are no parabens, petrochemicals, dyes, sulfates, synthetic fragrance, and no phthalates. Simply written: all natural and organic.

The biggest challenges for me as a blogger are not only to write posts that people want to read (having them leave a comment is “icing on the cake”) but, of utmost importance as a Mom, I must choose products to review that I believe are safe for my family, and yours!

With that in mind, my next post is about products from Good for you Girls that I had such faith in, that not only am I going to test some of their organic and natural products, but one of my children, my daughter, is, as well. Sorry, I don’t mean to exclude the boys in the family, but this is marketed for girls only.

Good for you Girls advertises itself as, “The Natural Start to Healthy Skin.” It is formulated from the blends of organic extracts and natural botanicals. I was so impressed reading about the company and their products, that I contacted them and subsequently purchased the following: deodorant, body wash, blemish wash and moisturizer.

My tween daughter agreed to assist me in reviewing them. Her task: to try all of the above purchased products. My job: try the body wash and the moisturizer. We would take notes and I would write up the post with her assistance. A great mother and daughter learning experience.

Good for you Girls Blemish Wash:

First product to review: the cleanser. Briefly, I would like to tell you why we chose one of the cleansers over the other since tthe company sells two types: the blemish wash, and the gel cleanser.

Good For You Girls is owned by Kim Grustas. I spoke on the phone with Kim, and she advised me that the most appropriate cleanser for my daughter would be the Blemish Wash. Why? Due to her occasional acne, and thus, some redness with her skin, The Blemish Wash would be a great product to try.

My daughter’s review: Great cleanser. The only thing that she and I discussed that needed mentioned is about the initial redness/flushed look, that my daughter experienced, so no one will panic after washing their face. The Blemish Wash has jojoba beads in it; those are for the “gentle” scrubbing away of excess oils and impurities. The Wash contains tropical fruit enzymes and extracts which fight bacteria. To soothe the skin and calm redness (when my daughter does have an acne breakout), organic calendula and chamomile are part of the formulation.

The smell of the wash is the Good for you Girls’ signature citrus scent, and that is created from 100% natural essential oils.

**Added on April 16, 2012: A reader left a great question for me.  Here it is:

“Thank you for taking time reviewing this product.  I’m using the Gel cleanser and couldn’t find the expiration date on the bottle. I know that natural product with no or little preservative will not last long and will eventually expire but there’s no clear information on when the product will be expired..  any advices would be greatly appreciated.”

I (Moxie) contacted Good for you Girls, and I not only received a quick response, but it also came from Grace Hvasta-Petrarca (the former Co-Founder and Owner of the company).

“Hello, Moxie! There should be a stamp on the bottle which would read something like this…1F06 Manufactured June 2011.  Therefore the product is good until June 2013. Please let me know if you have any other questions!  Thanks, Grace”

Good for you Girls Moisturizer:

Next product tested: the moisturizer. Both my daughter and I loved this! It is, as advertised, light-weight, but thick enough so it doesn’t feel watery! We also liked the fact that it was shine-free. Neither one of us wanted a shiny face (we had a good laugh over that!) We both agreed that when we used the moisturizer, it very quickly absorbed in the skin.

good for you girlsThe beneficial botanicals that are in the moisturizer are: white, green and black tea, Vitamin B6, Flax, Rose Hip Oil, Boroge Oil, Calendula, Aloe and Chamomile. What exactly does that mean for you? The extracts and antioxidants feed your skin, while the essential fatty acids work to control excess oil production.

It’s also noncomedogenic, which means it doesn’t block pores. Bonus: it smells great!

Good for you Girls Body Wash:

Both mother and daughter agreed we liked the Body Wash. Once again, fabulous scent! It had a really nice, rich lather that we both commented made our skin feel, “soft.” I told my daughter she should take over writing my blog after this comment: “I really liked the Body Wash. It wasn’t watery, like some washes. It had a good consistency!”

Good for you Girls Deodorant:

The final product: the Deodorant, which my daughter tested. No harmful chemicals or aluminum in this roll-on deodorant! My daughter liked the smell, as she does with all the “Good For You Girls” products. She said it was an orange scent. The deodorant was quick to dry and, my daughter was pleased to report, did not leave her sensitive skin with a rash. The product contains botanicals that are meant to be soothing and gentle to the skin.

Final Thoughts on Good for you Girls:

Good For You Girls wanted to produce effective, natural skincare that girls would enjoy using, because, as they point out, if she’s not going to use it, it won’t work! Simple, but makes sense, right?!

My daughter and I highly recommend all the Good For You Girls products that we tested because:

1. Natural ingredients that are not only safe for young skin, but also good!

2. Natural aromatics and organic essential oils smell fabulous!

3. Easy to use

Disclosure: I have nothing to disclose. I purchased all of the products. All the links are for your convenience only.
