Henna Color Lab info on Sulfates:

Before I write about the Henna Color Lab Shampoo and Conditioner, I want to make sure that everyone knows what sulfates are. This is important to know, whether or not you color your hair!

This is from the Henna Color Lab website:

“What are Sulfates? Sulfates are detergents (lather makers) used in many cosmetic products: shampoos and soaps. The main nasty to avoid is Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS). Sulfates can irritate the skin and scalp with regular use. Many blame SLS for the rise in dry skin disorders and dandruff problems. The detergents are just too strong for regular use; they simply yank all natural, protective oils from the skin and hair. These detergents are used often in industrial products, and although they may clean the toilet bowl well at the mall, you don’t want them on your skin, scalp, and hair. Additionally, their harsh cleansing power just strips the color out of your hair well before its natural cycle. Use only organic, plant-based shampoos (coconut oil, olive oil, & sunflower seed oil detergents) if you want max color with zero side effects.”

So, check the labels on your shampoo and soaps!!

Henna Color Lab Shampoo and Conditioner

These products are designed to work with the Henna Color Lab products, but anyone, whether you color your hair or not, can benefit from using their Shampoo and Conditioner. That’s why I was delighted to be able to try these two products:

Henna Color Lab

Henna Color Lab Clean Minty Mix Organic Shampoo

You don’t need a lot of shampoo to get great bubbles. That’s really amazing to me because it’s all organic plant-based surfactants (the bubble-makers). I love that it can also be used as a body wash and a shaving cream.

In addition to being free of sulfates, it also does not contain parabens, phthalates, or synthetics of any kind (that means there are no synthetic perfumes)! It smells great naturally with a combination of peppermint and spearmint essential oil.

Henna Color Lab

Ingredients: cocos nucifera (Coconut Oil)*, olea europaea (Olive Oil)*, helianthus annuus (Sunflower Seed Oil)*, butyrospermum parkii (Shea Butter)*, Proprietary Essential Oil Blend: Peppermint Essential Oil*, Spearmint Essential Oil*, potassium hydroxide, glycerin, guar gum, Aloe Vera*,  rosmarinus officinalis (Rosemary Extract)*, citric acid.    *Oregon Tilth certified organic ingredient

Henna Color Lab Minty Mix Organic Conditioner

Just like the Shampoo, the Conditioner is free of sulfates, and does not contain parabens, phthalates, or synthetics of any kind (that means there are no synthetic perfumes)! It smells great naturally with a combination of peppermint and spearmint essential oil.
Henna Color Lab

This was exactly as advertised. It was very moisturizing, and therefore, I no tangles in my hair when combing my hair through. Using the Shampoo and the Conditioner, I felt my hair was left with a nice shine.

Henna Color Lab Hair Dye

In addition to the shampoo and conditioner that are reviewed above, you should check out Henna Color Lab for their hair dye. Not interested in having ingredients such as ammonia, metallic salts, and harsh chemicals, in your hair dye?! Henna Color Lab has all natural, hair dyes. The hair dye permanently bonds with your hair, it doesn’t just chemically coat it.

Below is a photo of the Pure Henna Hair Color. However, there are many colors to choose from for the women’s hair dye, and the same colors are offered for men’s hair.

Henna Hair Lab

Men can also use it for their beard, eye brows, side burns, and mustache.

Henna Color Lab

All henna hair dye can be safely mixed if you wish to combine colors.

Henna Color Lab henna is 100% Pure, Body-Art Quality. This is the base for all of their hair dyes. It is super-fine, triple-sifted texture, and the color will lasts for weeks. Did you know that Henna has been a hair color & treatment for over 5000 years?

Ingredients: 100% Lawsonia inermis linn (Rājasthān Select Harvest™ Natural Henna). That’s it. Henna adds sheen and luster to hair and balances out your own natural highlights and undertones.

Cons of Henna Color Lab?

Only downside is the fact that Henna Color Lab sells exclusively online. However, here is their explanation:
“If we sold in retail chains our products would sell for twice the price. By distributing directly to you, we can cut out many middle men, keep costs lean, and still maintain a stable profit to keep sourcing high-quality, all natural ingredients. Most retail chains strong-arm smaller manufacturers with crippling NO-profit margins (online retailers too). As a result, many manufacturers begin to implement inferior, cheaper ingredients to drive down costs—simply to stay in favor with the big chain retailers. Invariably, the product declines in quality and the customer suffers—happens all the time in this industry.”

Cruelty free nuNAAT Chocolat Special Hair Care

The cruelty free nuNAAT Chocolat Special hair care will be reviewed in today’s post.  Their catchy phrase? “Who said chocolate is just for eating?” This hair care company does have several product lines, but I  selected the nuNAAT Chocolat Special for “Guilt-free Satisfaction.” This hair care line has a combination of cocoa butter and Brazil nuts, and the line is suitable for all hair types, including chemically processed hair.

Twitter    Facebook

Consider the Benefits of nuNAAT Chocolat Special:

The cocoa butter benefits your hair with antioxidants.

There are vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, C and E and it’s rich in minerals.

The Brazil nuts contain selenium, for healthy hair and scalp.

Delivers healthy nutrients to hair follicles!

nuNAAT Creamy Chocolat Shampoo (8.4 oz)

This shampoo may be used daily to provide moisture for healthy, shiny hair. The smell is, of course, of chocolate. I love chocolate and found the shampoo to be really terrific.

To use, simply massage into wet hair (don’t rub!), lather, rinse thoroughly, and repeat if needed. This does contain sodium laureth sulfate.

nuNAAT Creamy Chocolat Conditioner (8.6 0z)

Having cocoa butter and Brazil nuts in this product means that hydrating nutrients are helping your hair to leave it moisturized and tangle-free. Use the Conditioner regularly, after shampooing on still wet hair. Leave on for two minutes, then rinse.

nuNAAT Chocolat Thermo Active Anti-Frizz (5.2 oz)

nuNAAT Chocolat Thermo Active Anti-Frizz (5.2 oz)

Experiment for the amount that is needed. You don’t want too much product, or your hair will look greasy!  Start with a pea size amount and then keep adding as necessary. This worked as promised. The heat activated anti-frizz formula worked beautifully for blow-drying my hair.  I had shiny hair, and a smooth finish!

nuNAAT Chocolat Special Cream Hair Mask (17.6 oz)

This can be used twice a month to revitalize hair, and to maintain your healthy hair. This is used after shampooing

You can imagine the nice big chocolate smell coming from this large tub! It’s very thick and feels very luxurious!

The hair mask should be left on freshly washed hair for up to twenty minutes. That’s to not only add moisture to your hair, but also to repair the hair fibers.

I wish…

While nuNAAT has a list of ingredients on the back of each product, I wish that they were also listed on the website. There are ingredients that are found in their products, but that doesn’t help to know about each individual product before you head for the store. However, the big fact that they don’t test on animals outweighs that criticism.

nuAAT has a wide range of products for all hair types and textures. The Chocolat products were all great for my hair, and I would definitely want to check out their other Collections!

Where To Find nuNAAT: Click on this link to see where you can purchase; you can also put your zip code in and find a store near you. If you live outside of the U.S. and can’t locate the products, contact dialogue@nunaat.com, and let them know.

WEN Sweet Almond Mint at Sephora

Attention all WEN lovers! WEN Sweet Almond Mint is now available at Sephora. Thank you to my Facebook friend, Laura Maurizi, who mentioned that WEN, by Chaz Dean, now has Sweet Almond Mint products available at Sephora.com. I called Sephora (1-877-SEPHORA) and was told that since they just became available online, it will be a while before the actual stores stock the products.

Here’s the link to the WEN products that Sephora online is now selling.

I love Sephora; whether I’m shopping online or in person, it’s amazing how much time I can spend looking and yes, purchasing, the cruelty free items they have!

Chaz Dean: WEN Healthy Hair Care System

Did you read my previous review? WEN: Cleansing Conditioner by Chaz Dean. I’m very excited to show you that I received the whole WEN® Healthy Hair Care System to review. Everything is cruelty free. Their slogan: “Friends Don’t Let Friends Use Shampoo!” WEN can be purchased at QVC.

Here’s a photo of what’s in the WEN Hair Care System:

1. WEN Cleansing Conditioner- The one that I will review in today’s post is the Sweet Almond Mint. I reviewed the Cleansing Conditioner, Winter Vanilla Mint Cleansing Conditioner in a previous post.

Reminder from my last post, or for those who have never tried WEN:

Due to the fact that there is no sodium laurel sulfate, or other damaging detergents, the WEN Conditioners will not lather; they create foam when mixed with water. I know that I was guilty of believing this in the past: if a shampoo has a lot of lather, it’s doing a great job! Not true. The amount of suds, or lather will not make for shinier, healthier hair. It’s the sodium laurel sulfate present in a shampoo that makes it lather!

Both scents/fragrances that I have now tested are just amazing. They really smell very natural, and I can’t imagine that anyone wouldn’t really love both of the scents.

2. Re Moist Intensive Hair Treatment- Sweet Almond Mint

3. Styling Crème- Sweet Almond Mint

4. Texture Balm- Sweet Almond Mint

5. Saw-Cut Shower Comb

Why I love the WEN Saw-Cut Comb!:

I’m not writing about some a shoddy plastic comb, readers! This is a hand-finished, saw-cut comb. What’s so special about that? It’s “teeth” are designed so there is no damage to either your hair or your scalp when you’re using it. Brilliant! Further, this was designed specifically for use with the WEN Cleansing Conditioner to help make sure that you’ve evenly distributed the product. At the end of your shower, the wide-tooth side can be used to help rinse the WEN from your hair. The fine-tooth side is incredibly relaxing to run through my hair—wonderful scalp massage.

Re-Moist Intensive Hair Treatment

I used the saw-cut shower comb to make sure the product was evenly applied throughout my hair. I left it on for the (advised minimum) of thirty minutes, and then rinsed. This is one of those products that I am able to write: I know it worked immediately after following the treatment directions. How? I could see and feel a difference.

Why didn’t I leave it on longer?

Because on the day I tested this, it was chilly! I had to step outside the shower to sit down (no bench in the shower) and, the weather is not exactly balmy yet: I live in the Northeast (USA). That’s the only downside (and I really had to think about something that you readers might have an objection about).

Once again, the smell is great, and this will last for a long time. WEN suggests that you use it “once every 6 weeks, before and after any chemical treatment or when hair has been stressed.”

Styling Crème

Easy to use, and not a lot of product is needed–directions will depend on your hair length and texture. This product was successful as advertised, in that whether I let my hair dry naturally or I used my blow dryer, it looked great and smelled fantastic!

Texture Balm

All that’s needed to do is smooth the balm approximately six to eight times to the palms of your hands (approximately 6-8 times).

Rub your hands together and apply to your dry hair. It’s easy to use, and, as claims, creates, “definition, separation and texture!” Of course, it smells terrific!

Tips from WEN:

Do not abrasively dry your head with a towel as this will stress the hair and cause it to frizz.

You can cleanse daily but when used properly you should only have to cleanse every 2-3 days. The 16 oz size should last you between 4-6 weeks.

Sleep on it! Apply WEN Cleansing Conditioner to wet hair before bed as a hydrating overnight treatment. Cover hair with a shower cap. In your morning shower rinse well, and you’ll begin the day with shiny, silky hair!

Try to avoid using heated styling tools, like flat irons and curling irons. They can dry out, damage, and burn your hair causing breakage.

To help avoid breakage and to keep hair from burning always keep your blow dryer moving – never holding it on one spot – and use the concentrator nozzle that comes with your blow dryer.

Avoid metal and aluminum-based brushes when blow-drying as they get very hot and can singe hair or cause breakage.

If your hair is oily or fine try the Cucumber Aloe or Lavender formulas. They won’t weigh your hair down and with continual use it will add more volume and body.

WEN isn’t like an ordinary shampoo so you want to use more of it, not less. You can never use too much! The more you use, the better the results.

WEN Cleansing Conditioner by Chaz Dean

Looking for a product that takes the place of your shampoo, conditioner, deep conditioner, detangler and leave-in conditioner? Check out WEN Cleansing Conditioner by Chaz Dean. I was sent a limited edition of the WEN Winter Vanilla Mint Cleansing Conditioner, and no surprise, it is sold out now.

However, before you get all annoyed, here is a scent now available for purchase:

WEN Cleansing Conditioner specifically state they are not tested on animals.

(from a 2009 photo)

The WEN Winter Vanilla Mint Cleansing Conditioner (that I sampled) and the now available, Sweet Almond Mint, are created for all hair types, lengths, and textures.

How is WEN different? WEN’s product line will cleanse and hydrate your hair without stripping or robbing it of its natural nutrients and oils. WEN  cleansers are made with natural ingredients and contain no sodium laurel sulfate or other damaging detergents. WEN’s Conditioners are designed to nourish your hair with beneficial botanicals, and essential oils. All of WEN’s products are designed for use if you have color-treated hair.

All the information you need to know/and to order:

Website: http://www.NotShampoo.com

How did my hair look? Very shiny, and very moisturized. Didn’t even need a comb to part my hair; it actually looked so soft, I was able to part it with my fingers!

There are directions on the bottle for the number of pumps to be used. However, I found that I did not need nearly the quantity suggested. I just experimented.

Trivia time. What do the initials WEN stand for? It’s the word, NEW, spelled backwards. WEN is a NEW way of cleansing your hair!

Disclosure: I received the product for review, however, all links are for your convenience only.
