Here’s the first Milani Nail Lacquer: Mint Candy

Milani Nail Lacquer

I used two coats of this creme polish, and did not add a top coat. I’m just amazed at how shiny and beautiful Milani Nail Lacquers are without any top coat added.

I then added two coats of the Milani Jewel FX Nail Lacquer in Teal:

Milani Nail Lacquer

Milani formulated this chunky glitter to, “give the impression of the finest jewels adorning your nails. Multi-colored glitter sparkles like gems.”

Thoughts About the Milani Nail Lacquers:

I love the large and small glitters, and while I could have done my nails with one coat, I love glitter, so I added a second coat. How many coats you choose will obviously depending on the level of sparkling you want. Once again, I have no top coat on! The only con I could find is that some may not like the feel of the large glitter on their nails. Of course, that problem can be easily solved by adding a top coat. Just for record, I like to see what polish looks like for those who either don’t want to, or don’t have time to add a top coat.

Here are the two Milani Nail Lacquers, with two coats of polish on each nail, no top coat: Mint Candy and Teal.

Milani Nail Lacquer

Milani Nail Lacquer, Sail Away, is a navy, denim shade, with shimmers of silver. I used two coats of polish, and on one of my nails, as an experiment, I used a top coat.

Milani Nail Lacquer

I thought I would show you just how beautiful the Milani Nail Lacquer is on it’s own, without any top coat added. Can you tell which one nail has a top coat on it?  Milani Nail Lacquer

The photo below was taken with a flash:

Milani Nail Lacquers: Chocolate Sprinkles & Dark Coffee

Milani Nail Lacquers!

Today is a review of two Milani Nail Lacquers that were sent for review: Chocolate Sprinkles and Dark Coffee. Milani Nail Lacquers are of course cruelty free, and do not contain: Formaldehyde; DBP: Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP), to prevent chips and cracks; Toluene, a solvent that makes the polish easy to apply, but is also used as an industrial solvent for the manufacturing of paints, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and rubber.

Dark Coffee and Chocolate Sprinkles are two nail lacquers from the Spring Collection of 2012.

Milani Nail Lacquers

Since the colors remind me of the fall, I decided to pair them with one of the pumpkins from my father’s garden. He’s been trying to grow them for his grandchildren. My children love to watch them grow; and then, if the deer and other animals don’t get to them first– pick out their pumpkins!

The first nail lacquer color to show you is Chocolate Sprinkles:

Just look at this gorgeous color!! It’s so shiny, and I do not even have a top coat on my nail! The chocolate brown color polish has gold, bronze and red shimmer.

Next color to show you is the Milani Nail Lacquer in the color Dark Coffee:

Milani Nail LacquersDark Coffee is a creme, and once again, to show how shiny and beautiful this color is on it’s own, I do not have a top coat on my nail! Such a beautiful, rich color.

Here are the two colors in another photo:

Thoughts About the Milani Nail Lacquers:

I just love that there is a beautiful glossy finish to both the Dark Coffee and Chocolate Sprinkles, and therefore, to show that, I did not use a top coat in the photos. I applied two coats of polish, and I did not have any streaking. The nail polish was quick to dry, and there’s nothing I didn’t love about both colors. In fact, given that the polishes list for $4.49, I would write that it’s a bargain price!

NCLA: Fall 2012 Nail Polish Collection

Elin Dannerstedt started NCLA in Los Angeles, California, in 2011. The inspiration for NCLA Nail Polish comes from runway fashion and Los Angeles’ unique culture.  NCLA started the company selling only nail wraps; and they were so successful they then added a nail polish collection.

This is not the first time I have reviewed NCLA lacquers. I purchased four from the LA Collection, and the links to those previous posts can be found at these two links:

Product Review: NCLA Nail Polish- LA Collection

NCLA Nail Polish Review: LA Collection

The Fall 2012 Collection adds four more polishes. I received two to review, and will share photos and descriptions of the other two.

On the back of all the nail lacquers is this message: WE SAY NO TO:  Formaldehyde, DBP, Toluene, Camphor, and Animal Testing.

The website has this as well:  “Never tested on animals. Ever.”

All of the NCLA polishes are $16.00 USD, and they do not sell their polishes in China, which requires testing on animals.

Connect with NCLA: Twitter  Website

The first to share with you is CALL ME FOR THE AFTER PARTY.

I would agree with the description provided by NCLA:

Elegance and sophistication with just the right dash of sexiness. A dark, rich, metallic midnight blue. Elegant and smooth, this color screams “exclusive.”

Here are two photos of CALL ME FOR THE AFTER PARTY that were taken outside:

The two photos below were taken in the evening, with a flash:

The next photo is of the color ROCK SOLID:

Described by NCLA as:

The shiniest star in the nail fashion universe. A luxurious, slate grey cream shade, illuminated with fine silver metallic sparkles. The spotlight is nowhere but on you!

Outside photos, above and below:

The only thing that I would like to add to NCLA provided description of the color is that ROCK SOLID is a not only a beautiful dark gray color, but I was also really impressed that its gorgeous silver metallic sparkles were very fine pieces of glitter that dispersed evenly on each nail. In the daytime, or in the evening, the color sparkled!!

The polishes are as gorgeous as they look (in my photos, and on the NCLA website); they looked great in the daytime and in the evening. I had no trouble applying the polish, and I am not a nail blogger (which means if I can apply the polish without any issues, you can, too!) All of the photos are taken after applying two coats of polish, without a top coat. I did that so you could hopefully see the true colors, and also to test how easily it chipped with nothing added.

Once again, as with my previous experience with the four other colors, I think that NCLA is a superb quality nail polish. It did not chip, even after four days! Do I think it’s worth the $16.00? Yes! While the two polishes in this post were provided for review, I did purchase my four previously reviewed NCLA polishes.

Only thing to note is that both colors need to be applied with more than one coat of polish. The ROCK SOLID color, especially, showed the brush strokes on my nails after only one coat. Two coats, and it was perfect for me. No big deal, just trying to give you all the details.

Here are photos of the other two polishes in the Collection: DIRTY MARTINI and WITHOUT ME, THERE’S NO VIP!

“Dirty Martini is a rich, bold, high-intensity olive cream. This shade with a posh personality paired with a rock n’ roll attitude, serves it to you straight up with no excuse.”

WITHOUT METHERE’S NO VIP!

This is a uniquely seductive take on a classic red. True to its’ name, the deeply rich red wine base color is infused with multi-colored sparkles for that “look at me” effect. Classic, elegant, cool.”
